Inground Pool Design

There are a few steps and things to consider when beginning the inground pool design process.  The swimming pool design process will require time and thoughtful decision making to design a pool that not only meets your wants and needs but instead exceeds them. Creating a pool is a part of the process that can either be overwhelming or thrilling.  Depending on how much research you have done and what your budget is for the inground swimming pool design project will determine how smooth and quick the swimming pool design goes. However, do not let the fear of “what will go into my pool?” or “how should it be designed” keep you from moving forward with the dream of pool ownership. Our team of pool builders are here to help you through each step of the process to ensure your luxury inground pool fits your vision!

INGROUND POOL DESIGN CHOICES TO FIT YOUR NEEDS

Before meeting with a swimming pool contractor from Town & Country Pools, it is best to think about what you for your future swimming pool.  To design the swimming pool of your dreams first ask yourself these questions.

  • Will the pool be for family recreation?
  • Will you use it for entertaining and large parties?
  • Do you want it close to your home or in a secluded area of your backyard?
  • Will the pool be used mainly for exercise?
  • How many people do you think will be in the pool at the same time?
  • Do you want a heater installed so you can extend your swimming pool season?
  • Do you want a hot tub installed as part of the project?
  • What kind of pool cover will you have for your swimming pool? Do you want a hydraulic model?

After considering the questions above you are ready to schedule your first meeting with a Town & Country Pools team member.  This meeting will begin at the location of your soon to be swimming pool and end with an inground pool design contract for the swimming pool of your dreams.

INGROUND POOL DESIGN – FIRST MEETING

At your first meeting, our sales staff will meet you at your home. Town & Country Pools will bring portfolios and years of experience to help guide you towards your perfect outdoor creation. Your salesperson will be available to you through the entire inground pool design process, all the way up until you take your first dip in your brand new swimming pool. We suggest that you provide a House Location Survey (also known as a plat) which can typically be found in your home closing documents.  This document is a necessary step in the inground pool design process to help decide if your yard meets the basic requirements of your County codes. If your neighborhood is governed by an HOA (Home Owners Association), it would also be beneficial to have read through the guidelines in order to have an understanding regarding what is and is not allowed. All of these factors are taken into consideration before we move on to the inground pool design.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR SWIMMING POOL DESIGN

If you have collected pictures, made Pinterest boards, or have swimming pool design ideas share them with us now, it will place YOUR vision in our hands.  By sharing the type of inground pool design you may want and determining your budget, it will help us guide you through the swimming pool design process while tailoring your inground pool design to meet your wants and needs. For design inspiration, consider some of the following:

  • Flip through architecture, interior design or travel magazines.
  • Visit our swimming pool design pages filled with pictures and ideas.
  • Browse the internet for pool builders galleries. Do not limit your search to local pool builders; you can look nationwide and then find a local pool builder to potentially duplicate the design you found.
  • Attend real estate open houses in your area to find inspiration from other pools nearby.

Do not forget to consider the area surrounding the swimming pool when you are in the design phase. You will spend as much – if not more – time out of the pool than you will in it. Consider what you want in a pool deck or pool house now.  You will want to save room in the pool construction budget for the poolside living space as well.

SWIMMING POOL DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

  • Pool Types: Do you want a vinyl liner pool, a fiberglass pool or a concrete pool? Each pool brings with it its unique style and flair and price point and flexibility in design.
  • Size and Shape: Considering a rectangle, a free-form pool, or a lap pool? Keep in mind, traditional swimming pools can make a future home sale easier.  Do you have a small yard? Deciding where the pool will sit, how it will impact or fit in with your current landscaping is a big decision that should not be taken lightly.
  • Interior Pool Colors: Whether you are considering bright, brilliant white, a Caribbean blue, black, or something in between color choice is a personal preference. However, some colors come with unique care, maintenance or water temperature issues.
  • Accessories: Accessories may include rock waterfall, fountains, diving board, slide, sun shelves, vanishing edge, in-pool LED lights, built-in spa or a beach entry.
  • Equipment: Do not forget that the equipment you have installed in your swimming pool project will help it operate efficiently while making it easier to keep clean.  So don’t skimp on these essentials.

INGROUND POOL DESIGN – SITE WORK

Your team, which now also includes a landscape designer and a landscape architect will revisit your home for the next step in the inground pool design process and do “site work.”  Site work consists of surveying the existing topography in order to determine the need for walls, steps, pool safety precautions, etc. as part of the overall inground pool design project.  During this visit, we also measure the exterior of the home to ensure the accuracy of the plat that we obtained at our first meeting, as well as the location any trees, existing outbuildings, and/or septic tanks, etc. The information that we gathered during site work and the insight gained towards your vision during our first meeting are combined to design a plan that integrates the pool and landscape into a magnificent creation maximizing your site’s potential. We then present this plan to you, approximately two weeks after site work, to gain your feedback.  In this meeting, we will make the necessary changes to ensure that the plan is creating the oasis you envision for your home.

INGROUND POOL DESIGN – PROPOSAL

The last step in the inground pool design process before construction begins is the proposal. Your proposal will provide very specific information regarding each element of your outdoor project including County requirements, pool construction, and masonry. Depending on your final design, the proposal may also include information regarding carpentry, landscaping, irrigation, etc. The proposal is typically emailed, and a member of your sales team will follow up with a phone call to answer any questions that you may have regarding the proposal.

INGROUND POOL DESIGN – CONTRACT

Once you are satisfied with the proposal, we can move forward to the contract thus completing the inground pool design process.
